It has been one year since I uttered the words, “I do,” one year that I have been blessed to walk with Zach and have the honor to be called his wife. Some say that the first year is the hardest and perhaps they’re right, perhaps they’re wrong. But if they are right – I can’t wait for the rest of the years to come because this has been the best year of my life.
It has been eye-opening to see the growth in Zach’s love for Christ and the way he always tries serve Him and me. He’s my big spoon, the dishwasher on a busy day, the master driver, the encourager, the comedian on a lazy day, he’s the one that takes his socks off at the dinner table, and he is a God-fearing husband who wakes up early to soak in His word before leaving for work.
Don’t get me wrong. I do not want to put Zach or our marriage on a pedestal. We have had several tear-soaked discussions or a few shared apologies. We have had our own miscommunications, unspoken expectations that were never met (or were not fair in the first place). We live in a 525 square foot apartment – talk about challenge and beautiful discovery.
Through all of the moments that we have shared as husband and wife, it was all worth it. I pray that we can continue to love and respect each other – not because we deserve it, but because we WANT want to love and honor one another.
I love you, Zach. Thank you for calling me your wife and may all glory be to God.
